How Did This Happen?

A short while ago I stepped off the oil painting path (temporarily) and took an interest in the Zentangle® method of pattern drawing. With that method as inspiration, I began reading a few books, watching videos, and checking out some good websites. I already had many of the materials and bought the others I needed and started tangling. What a fun and addictive venture! I posted a few of my creations to friends and several suggested that I put them together into a coloring book. Then they asked with a little more persistence when it would be ready. A big thank you to Lornea and Laura! My husband is an author and a great mentor; so with some advice from him, I began scanning and getting my content ready. Now I'm waiting for my proof copy to arrive. I can hardly wait.

Unlike many other creators of coloring books, I do not have an art degree nor am I a professional illustrator, art teacher, or art therapist. I was a business administration and economics major, completely left brained. I am not affiliated with or sponsored by Zentangle. I had very little art training in school and developed my own abilities as best I could with classes and workshops while juggling my career. One of these was a series of Saturday classes for adults who always wanted to paint but never had the opportunity at the San Francisco Art Institute. This was a few decades ago. So basically, I'm your ordinary Jane Doe with an idea and a love of art. I'm even thinking of a sequel.

My hope is that by using these talents and abilities of mine in the form of a little coloring book, those who journey through the pages with crayons, markers, colored pens and pencils, will find a bit less stress and a bigger glimmer of joy in their day.

Happy Coloring!
